To Lady Barbara McKinney and family, we are so grieved by the loss of Bishop George Dallas McKinney, and our hearts and prayers are with you. As members of West Angeles Church of God In Christ, we were blessed to have been in the powerful presence of Bishop McKinney, first meeting him years ago at Presiding Bishop Emeritus Charles Edward Blake, Sr.'s Legacy Conference. His strong but quiet demeanor and kind words have stayed with to this day. We are honored to have met him, and again, we are sorry for the loss of this great man of God.
To the Family and Loved Ones of Bishop McKinney:
I was heartbroken to hear of his passing. I've spent the days since praying for all of you and remembering my years at St. Stephen's. Including fond memories of our beloved Pastor McKinney. I was a member of St. Stephen's from 1977 to 1982. I accepted Christ under Bishop McKinney's teaching and like so many others, then came milestones such as: baptism, marriage, baby dedication, etc. After moving back to Cleveland in 1982, I made a point to visit Bishop McKinney and St. Stephen's during my return trips to San Diego. His ministry provided the foundation of my Christian faith. I will always be grateful to God for our beloved Bishop McKinney. He was graceful in humility, delivering the Word of God so all could understand it, a loving shepherd to the people with absolute integrity. "Well done thou good and faithful servant..." As you celebrate his life, do also cherish all the sweet memories. May God comfort you as only He can and the Holy Spirit bring you peace.

To Lady Barbara McKinney and the entire family. I pray that God in his intimate wisdom will continue to strengthen and comfort you all as you go through this difficult time of loss. Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes........
To the family of Bishop George Dallas McKinney, Lady Barbara, his five sons, their families and the entire extended family, St. Stephens Cathedral, SoCal 2nd Jurisdiction, the Church of God in Christ, and all who cared about him, I offer my deep condolences for our lost, but heaven's gain, the the death unto life of our precious bishop.
I got to know Bishop McKinney nearly 20 years ago as a theological student at Harvard. I later invited him to speak at Harvard University during a conference on Black Pentecostalism in 2005.
He was learned, trained, erudite, evangelical, ecumenical and committed to social justice. He was a COGIC churchman, and a Christian leader who I deeply respected, and whom I continue to hold in regard and esteem.
May he rest in peace and rise in power.
And may his legacy be many spiritual daughters and sons who will not only be like him ... but beyond him.
We send our heartfelt prayers to Lady Barbara and the sons of Bishop George Dallas McKinney. Bishop McKinney was family from the time he and Pastor Roosevelt Brice were boys then as men and ordained by the late Bishop J.A. Blake Sr. Bishop McKinney was the Honored Guest Speaker at the ceremony of Pastor Brice's Honorary Doctorate Degree in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We love and honor Bishop McKinney for a man of achievement and scholar of many; but always lived a holy life with integrity.
